Lip dubbed Song and thoughts on vimeo

Lip Dub – Tambureddu HD from Leonardo Dalessandri on Vimeo.

I got hooked on to this song. I want to know what language it is. Sounds spanish, well I could be all wrong.

Youtube might have started it, but vimeo has got it right; I must say. Vimeo is for videos like flickr for photography. The comparison gets remarkably similar when you think about the days when flickr was launched. Flickr was launched when there wasn’t virtually any media for sharing pictures existed other than yahoo photos. The launch was just in time when the digital camera prices dropped drastically and the Digital Camera market started taking off. Similarly vimeo is all set to take the role of flickr in video arena. If you think at it, this is just the time in video cameras similar to the DSLRs in 2003. With the new HDD cameras, dealing with videos became less cumbersome, just like the digital cameras did back in 2003. And prices for video cameras have dropped too.

The good thing is, Vimeo has got this message clear. They are just playing it low until more and more people, like me, will find them out and rave about them.

Some obvious points I noticed are

The videos get transcoded into flv with in minutes, compared to hours in youtube.
Has a nice interface and the user experience is much different.
Vimeo got HD support and much ahead of the game.
Once you upload and tag a video, you can immediately access similar videos that used the same tags.
There are indeed very less porns.

The downside is vimeo is not so well known among people I know. So, its very difficult for me to ask them to switch. But well that was same with flickr also when it started.
